Honda Canada Foundation, Honda’s charitable arm in Canada, is donating $200,000 to Parachute Canada to support and grow its programming for road safety education and awareness. The partnership will support Honda Canada Foundation’s new traffic safety pillar to advance traffic safety awareness campaigns and hands-on learning clinics in communities across Canada. Honda’s vision for a collision-free society aligns with Parachute Canada’s commitment to Vision Zero; zero fatalities on Canadian roads. The donation will support innovative initiatives like:
- Canadian Youth Road Safety Council which recruits 10 young people across Canada to co-create initiatives and provide input for Canadian Youth Road Safety Week,
- Youth Road Safety Ambassador Program where 10 grants of $600 will empower successful applicants as changemakers to develop solutions for their community or school (grants will expand to 15 in 2025),
- Parent and Caregiver Engagement, a program open to all adults who wish to support road safety for youth, parents, caregivers, decision-makers, educators and community partners, and
- Canadian Youth Road Safety Week to engage youth to take an active role in promoting road safety in their communities.
“Road safety is important whether you are a pedestrian, driver or cyclist, and affects all communities be it a big city or small town. Honda Canada Foundation is supporting Parachute to empower youth to contribute to the safety of our roads and the society we live in,” said Ryan Kelly, Chair of the Honda Canada Foundation. “Our partnership with Parachute Canada and support for Canadian Youth Road Safety Week will help further our shared visions of safer roads and a collision-free society. Honda Canada Foundation was created to make the lives of Canadians better and we believe a focus on road safety will help to do that for everyone.”
“We welcome and celebrate our new partner in youth road safety, the Honda Canada Foundation,” said Pamela Fuselli, President and CEO of Parachute. “Empowering youth ages 15 to 24 to become more involved in road safety issues and to create and support road systems in our communities that are safe and equitable are our goals, and the generous support of the Honda Canada Foundation allows us to move closer to those goals.”
